Project Overview: The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is a foldable smartphone that is part of the Samsung Galaxy Z series. It was revealed by Samsung Electronics in August, 2021. We created an advertisement for the new device by setting up a "game" for guitarist Jon Dretto to play and unveil this new phone. The "game" that Jon plays, was created within Resolume Arena 7, utilizing Resolume Wire and Particle Effects. The initial concept was to have circle reveal on a screen whenever Jon hit a cord - and the more intense the music gets, the whole screen should turn blue and a phone would reveal (meaning he beat the game). We took solos of Jon's guitar playing to key in on the different notes and levels they come through at. By zoning in on certain frequencies, I created a system in which the more cords he played at once, the thicker the circles became; as well as the faster he plays, the more circles reveal. Once the frequency hit a certain point the screen filled blue with a pulsating glow. For projections we used 1 40K Lumen Barco Projector and a large projection screen.
